23.08 - Vegetable materials and vegetable waste, vegetable residues and by-products, whether or not in the form of pellets, of a kind used in animal feeding, not elsewhere specified or included. Provided they are not included in any other more specific heading of the Nomenclature and are of a kind used in animal feeding, this heading covers vegetable products, vegetable waste, and residues and b products fi-om the industrial processing of vegetable materials in order to extract some o their constituents. ?- It covers, inter aIia : (1) Acorns and horse-chestnuts. (2) Maize (corn) cobs after removal of the grain; maize (corn) stalks and leaves. (3) Beet or carrot tops. (4) Peelings of vegetables (pea or bean pods, etc.). (5) Waste of fruit (peel and cores of apples, ears, etc.) and h i t pomace and marc (from the pressing of apes, apples, pears, citrus &it, etc.), even if they may also be used for the extraction o pectin. I? (6) Bran obtained as a by-product from the crushing of mustard seed. (7) Residues left after the preparation of coffee substitute (or extracts thereof) fiom cereal grains or other vegetable materials. (8) By-products obtained by concentrating residual waters fi-om citrus h i t juice manufacture, sometimes known as " citrus fruit molasses ". (9) Residues from the h drolysis of maize (corn) cobs to obtain 2-furaldehyde, known as " hydrolysed grounc? corn cobs ". The roducts of this heading may be in the form of pellets (see the General Explanatory Note to this hapter). E
1.- Heading 23.09 includes products of a kind used in animal feeding, not elsewhere specified or included, obtained by processing vegetable or animal materials to such an extent that they have lost the essential characteristics of the original material, other than vegetable waste, vegetable residues and by-products of such processing. Subheading Note. 1.- For the purposes of subheading 2306.41, the expression “low erucic acid rape or colza seeds” means seeds as defined in Subheading Note 1 to Chapter 12.
